▍Descriptions of Double Pitch Conveyor Chain

Double Pitch Conveyor Chains are suited for light to medium-duty material handling applications. These chains are similar to standard chains, except the plates are straight, and the pitch is twice as long.

Double Pitch Conveyor Chains are available in C2000 (standard roller) and C2002 (large roller) series. 1 1/2″ pitch and larger chains utilize heavy stlye link pates (i.e., one size larger than a standard chain). The chain number is found by adding 2,000 or 2002 to the standard chains and using the prefix “C”. An “H” suffix is added to chains with heavy-style link plates. For example, 60 double pitch conveyor series (1 1/2″) is designed C2060H.

▍Double Pitch Conveyor Chain Dimensions

Double pitch conveyor chains, also referred to as extended-pitch conveyor roller chains are built in accordance with ANSI B29.4. Products with attachments are widely used in conveyor applications when loads are low, and speeds are moderate. Available variations include larger-diameter rollers and hollow pin designs. These chains can also be supplied in stainless steel, nickel-plated or zinc-plated versions (oversized roller chain can be steel or engineering plastics). The main specification includes the C2040 chain, C2042 chain, C2050 chain, C2052 chain, C2060H chain, C2062H chain, C2080 chain, C2082 chain, C2080H chain, C2082H chain, etc.

▍Non-standard Double Pitch Conveyor Chains Dimensions

▍Double Pitch Conveyor Chain Features:

(1) double pitch conveyor chain conforms to ISO 1275, ASME B29.100, DIN 8181, and JIS B1803.

(2) The pitch of double pitch conveyor chain is twice that of the short-pitch precision roller chain, and the other interchangeability dimensions are the same. The tensile strength and hinge supporting area of the double pitch conveyor chain are the same as those of the corresponding short pitch precision roller chain.

(3) Compared with short pitch precision roller chain, double pitch conveyor chain is lighter in weight and is suitable for occasions with lower speed and longer transmission center distance.

▍Double Pitch Conveyor Chain Applications:

Double pitch conveyor chain often referred to as a “C” series chain, double pitch conveyor chain is made up of the same components (rollers, pins, bushes, etc.) as standard conveyor roller chains; however, they have longer side plates (double pitch). The double pitch conveyor chain is often used on slower-moving conveyors that put less stress or wear onto the chain. Industries that we currently supply a wide range of the double pitch conveyor chain to include, but are not limited to, fruit pack houses, timber mills, and airport equipment.

Our in-stock standard double pitch sprockets are manufactured out of SAE-1045 case-hardened steel with extra-hardened teeth and coated with black oxide. These sprockets are extremely durable, high-strength, and manufactured to high precision tolerances. Stock double-pitch sprockets include standard roller and carrier roller style, single duty sprockets are made to order and typically take anywhere from a few business days to a few weeks to manufacture based on our factory loads and sprocket specifics.

Something important to note is that with chain sizes C2040, C2050, C2060, C2060H, C2080H, C2100H, C2120H, and C2160H when the tooth count is 31 or more, you can use a standard roller chain sprocket. This rule does not apply to carrier roller style chains which where the roller diameter exceeds the sidebar height; these chain sizes include C2042, C2052, C2062, C2062H, C2082H, C2102H, C2122H, and C2162H.

All of our double pitch conveyor chain products have gone through stringent process measures for the best quality! This includes heat treatment, which ensures the optimum ware life and toughness for all component parts. Solid hardened and shot-peened precision rollers are standard on most of our chains. The bushings provide a smooth roller bearing effect reducing the impact load as the chain engages the sprockets tooth. During chain assembly, all double pitch conveyor chain components are oriented to ensure pins, bushings, and side plates are correctly positioned for optimum chain strength and long life. Assembled double pitch conveyor chains are then dipped in a hot lubricant. This lubrication and the process in which it is applied greatly improve the ware life capacity of the chain and further protect it from the effects of the environment. All of our chains are factory preloaded. They are pretested to support and maintain the expected load the chain will see when in use. This helps align the chain parts, which will minimize the initial elongation. This will drastically increase the life of the double pitch conveyor chains.
